Mindful Eating and Childhood Obesity

This professional lecture series will review the state of research on each topic, provide participants with suggested readings, and introduce short practices to share with clients, patients and students. This lecture series is tailored for health and mental health workers, teachers, and others serving children and their families. All lectures in this series are focused on mindfulness, children and parents.
Course Decription
Consider viewing childhood obesity through a different lens of mindfulness and mindful eating. Experience mindful eating practices and get ideas to incorporate into your practice.
Pricing
$40 is the registration fee.

If you are a UW Affiliate and have department approval to pay using a UW budget transfer, you may register for a 25% discount ($30) on the single session price. Please add your department budget number at check out.
Continuing Education Credits
The registration includes a Certificate of Completion for 2 credit hours per session for licensed psychologists, marriage and family therapists, mental health counselors, and social workers in Washington State. 1.5 MERIT hours are also available.
Cancellation Policy
If you cancel up to two weeks prior to the event (11/8/16), you will receive a full refund less a $5 processing fee. If you cancel within two weeks leading up to the event, you will receive a partial refund of 50% minus a $5 processing fee. Refunds cannot be granted on or after the day the class begins.
Pay it Forward - Support the Scholarship Fund
If you are able to pay more for the course, we encourage you to consider donating to the Mindfulness Outreach Fund which allows CCFW to offer 50% and 100% scholarships to community members to aid in the cost of registration fees for mindfulness courses. Scholarships are awarded to increase accessibility of mindfulness and compassion training for individuals who have limited resources to obtain such training and to those who work in communities experiencing adversity. About the Instructor
Lenna L. Liu, MD, MPH is a Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Washington School of Medicine and Seattle Children's Hospital. She practices general pediatrics at Odessa Brown Children's Clinic. Dr. Liu is active locally and nationally on childhood obesity prevention and management efforts, particularly with an emphasis on health disparities and low-income populations. She is the physician lead for the Seattle Children's Obesity Program which includes clinical services, education, research and advocacy. She is also trained in yoga, meditation and mindfulness, and working to bring mindfulness and mindful eating to pediatrics and obesity prevention.
