Faculty of Medicine and Pharmaceutical Sciences Douala, 3RR2+4VH, Route de Douala, Yaoundé, Douala, Littoral, 2701, Cameroon.

This is the 3rd edition of this series of meeting organized once every year around World Malaria Day. Hosted by the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmaceutical Sciences of the University of Douala, and sponsored by various organisations.

During this event, experts in various disciplines (entomology, botany, chemistry, biochemistry, phytochemistry, parasitology etc.) meet, present papers, and discuss issues and trends pertaining to the control, the prevention and the treatment of malaria, with a focus on the vector control. At the end of these scientific discussions, recommendations are made for a certain course of action.

The event is articulated in 3 parts:

April 19th, 2023 (Wednesday): FMPS, University of Douala 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM. Various presentations, both oral and poster-based, opened for discussion to answer various questions. Participants will have the opportunity to discuss the scientific advances in the fight against malaria and discover new technologies and the applications thereof, used in malaria vector control. This is also a great networking opportunity.

April 21st, 2023 (Friday): SELECTED PARTICIPANTS ONLY. An awareness campaign in a primary school located in Massoumbou PK21, Yabassi, Nkam. 

April 23rd, 2023 (Sunday): SELECTED PARTICIPANTS ONLY. Another awareness campaign targeting a larger population, namely residents of Nyalla, a nieghbourhood in Douala.

Symposium Malaria Registration

Ntoumba Agnes is a PhD candidate at the University of Douala. She holds a Master degree in parasitology since 2015 and is highly involved in medical entomology. Agnes has contributed to increase the data on the biodiversity of Culicidae family in Cameroun, particularly in the city of Douala. Currently working on Malaria vectors, especially on ways to reduce the transmission of malaria by decreasing the number of larvae, her goal is the use natural insecticidal compounds produced by plants and associated with nanoparticles. The aim of this work is to promote the use of local material to produce cheap, Eco-friendly bio insecticides that are safe for the human. The results of her research have been published in international scientific journals and presented at several national and international conferences. In 2020 she was awarded the L'OREAL Foundation and UNESCO Prizes in the frame of Young talents of Africa Sub-saharan 2020. Ntoumba Agnes is a member of scientific associations including the American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene, EUROSCIENCE and PAMCA. She is involved in the Women Scientist Association as Higher Women and Caprown. She is the president of NEED, a Non-Profit association and a corporation for implementation of her outcomes and sustainable goals of United Nations.
