JOIN US FOR A FABULOUS DAY OF SAILING ON THE MIGHTY COLUMBIA RIVER AND SWING DANCING TO LIVE MUSIC! Last year, 70 people participated; this year, we are aiming for 150. We will leave at noon, on sailboats, from the public dock next to the M. James Gleason Memorial Boat Ramp, at 4325 NE Marine Drive. Parking is limited and costs $5, so WE STRONGLY ENCOURAGE CAR POOLING. From there, we will sail to Bartlett Landing on Government Island. From four o'clock to five-thirty, we will have a potluck picnic. Then Brenda Russell will give an introductory dance lesson. From six o'clock to eight o'clock, Stumptown Swing will play and we will dance! Finally, we will clean up camp and sail back to the public dock, arriving by ten o'clock.
I am a lifelong sailor and longtime East Coast swing dancer. I have taken more than 500 people sailing on the Columbia River over the past five years. This event will bring together two of my passions: sailors who have never danced swing will get an introduction to that style of dance and swing dancers who have never sailed will get an introduction to the sport. You can reach me by phone/text at 541-543-0525 or by e-mail at sailing@palebluedotllc.com. Professionally, I am a freelance writer, specializing in geospatial technologies. You can read my articles and bio at www.palebluedotllc.com.
