Lynda will share her techniques for copying a ready to-wear garment. When you end the class, you will have a working pattern, a sample, and fitting for whatever garment you choose to copy. In addition, Lynda has short instructional videos as a companion to the class to use at any time.
Many of us have a favorite garment that has taken up residence in our closet in hopes of duplicating it one day. This class will help achieve that goal. If you think this workshop is for you, please let us know that you are interested.
In the class, we begin by analyzing the grain of the fabric and how it was manipulated to create the garment. Using the “rub-off” method, we will align the grainlines of the patterning fabric (silk organza) to those of the garment. Once the pattern has been obtained, including all markings and design details, we will transfer the lines to paper for truing and refining all lines and curves. Once this is done, a muslin test garment will be made to check for accuracy and personalize the fit.
The course supply list will be provided after registration.
Everyone will have a opportunity to participate in a collective purchase of the silk organza.
