Kings Landing Park, 3255 Kings Landing Road, Huntingtown, Maryland, 20639, United States.

Calling all community members, youth groups, scout troops, families and friends!  Everyone is welcome!!  Come help us raise awareness and money for the homeless of Southern Maryland.  Money raised will benefit Project ECHO, Inc., Calvert County's local homeless shelter!

The 8th annual Camp Out for Calvert event, hosted by People on the Go Southern Maryland and The Arc Southern Maryland, will take place on Saturday, September 25th and Sunday, September 26th at Kings Landing Park.  Participants will raise funds for Project ECHO by having others sponsor them to experience spending the night outdoors.  There will be activities going on throughout the afternoon and evening ending with musical entertainment by Southern Maryland accoustic artist, James Cornett, & s’mores around the campfire.

Come hang out with us for the day or stay for the evening to camp!  Overnight participants are expected to bring their own camping gear including tent, sleeping bag, camping chair, change of clothing and toiletries.  Due to Covid restrictions this year, participants will not be allowed to share a tent with other participants, unless they reside in the same house together.  Restrooms are available onsite.  Event will be held rain or shine, so please plan accordingly.

Due to Covid restrictions, campers should bring their own dinner for Saturday evening.  This could be a bagged/lunch box meal, a fast food meal or something to cook on the provided grills.  You will be responsible for preparing your own food if you plan to use a grill.  People on the Go will provide ingredients for all attendees to make S'mores Saturday evening around the campfire and they will provide a small breakfast Sunday morning of pre-wrapped ready to eat danishes and similar breakfast items.  People on the Go will also provide bottled water throughout the event.  Any other snacks or drinks you wish to have during the event will be your own responsibility to bring and should be marked as such.

There is no charge to participate in this campout but please remember, this is a fundraising event!  There is no minimum amount you need to collect to attend, but everyone is encouraged to raise as many donations as possible to benefit Project ECHO.  Donations may be in the form of cash or checks.  All checks should be made out directly to Project ECHO, Inc.  All donations for Project ECHO will be collected upon your arrival to the park.

We will have the camp site closest to the equestrian ring.  When you arrive at the park, follow the "Camp Out for Calvert" signs and make a left when you see the "People on the Go" banner.  This will take you to the equestrian area.  Registration will take place at the pavilion closest to the equestrian ring.  From there, you will receive a park map and be shown where to set up your tent.

Once you have registered, you will receive an email containing an event flyer, all the above info and a sponsorship sheet.  Please use this sponsor sheet to record donations for Project ECHO.  Collect all donations in an envelope and bring with you to the camp out.  All donations should be turned in upon your arrival to the camp site.

Event Schedule

We have our camp site reserved at Kings Landing Park starting at 1:00pm on Saturday, September 25th but you are welcome to arrive at any time after 1pm.  Upon arriving, participants should set up their tent (assistance available if needed).  For the duration of the day on Saturday, participants are welcome to take advantage of the wonderful amenities offered by Kings Landing Park at your own leisure - low ropes course, hiking trails, beach, etc.  There is a canoe/kayak launch for those that bring their own canoe/kayak and a fishing pier for those who bring their own equipment.  Games and activities will also be set up around the pavilion.  There will also be a group scavenger hunt you can participate in.  Participants are welcome to have dinner (which they should provide) at any time that evening.  Musical entertainment will start around 7:00pm with S'mores afterwards (provided by POG).  Lights out within the park is at 11pm.  Participants should be packed up and out of the park by 11am on Sunday.

Please note:  For safety, the gate to Kings Landing Park will be locked from 5pm Saturday evening until 8am Sunday morning.  Should you arrive to the park while the gate is locked, please contact Crystal Haislip at 240-431-9384 and someone will come let you in.
