[VIRTUAL] Data Career Panel with Thoughtspot

This event provides an opportunity for students interested in STEM or tech careers outside of “coding” to interact with professionals across various industries to learn how data and analytics are involved in the world of work in general. 

Panelists:

Glenda Uy - Irvine Company, IT Director Business Intelligence (she/her):

Glenda has over 32 years of IT experience in business analysis and project management, with 15 years at the Irvine Company.

In the past seven years, she is responsible for overseeing the Business Intelligence Program at Irvine Company. She works closely with the Corporate, Apartments, Office, and Retail divisions to implement their BI and Analytics strategies using tools like SAP HANA, Snowflake Alteryx, and Tableau.

She believes in empowering business users with data and has actively rolled out a Tableau training program. She thrives in a rigorous, analytical environment, successfully navigating pressure-filled scenarios, solving problems with operational excellence, and using analytical insights to identify actionable solutions.

With a team of analysts and data engineers, Glenda designs, guides, and polishes analyses.

In her spare time, Glenda loves to go on hikes and enjoys traveling overseas.

 

Callie Cobbs - Chick-fil-A, Sr. Lead Analyst in Enterprise Analytics (she/her):

Callie Cobbs has been at Chick-fil-A for three years, helping establish and implement the go-forward strategy for front-end analytics technology for internal staff and restaurant Operators, and Team Members.

She is also responsible for helping enable the Community of Practicing Analysts (COPA) with the right analytics tools to succeed in their roles. 

Before joining Chick-fil-A, she was at HP and the subsequent spin-off companies leading an analytics technology team through the separations to ensure each company had the business intelligence platforms necessary for success.

 

Alyson Ruppenthal - Mattel / Fisher-Price, Senior Marketing Associate (she/her):

Alyson is a hardworking, driven individual who recently received her Master's degree in Integrated Marketing Communications from Saint Bonaventure University.

After studying this for over two years, Alyson aspires to pursue a career in Social Media Marketing one day. An area of expertise that significantly interests Alyson is the data analytics behind social media platforms and the individuals who use them regularly.

As a Senior Marketing Associate at Fisher-Price, Alyson is responsible for running and analyzing many different reports for the Brand Teams to ensure accurate information is being distributed. Along with these responsibilities, she is responsible for communicating with and helping the international markets choose strategically what new products with content will be available for future seasons.

By partnering with the international markets and Brand Teams, Alyson has built many relationships, trust, and confidence to ensure the brand's success.

  

Rajvi Mehta - Vanguard, Advanced-Data Analyst (she/her):

Rajvi is a senior product data analyst at Vanguard supporting their operations business. She has her Masters in Quantitative Finance, where she learned to work with big data and building predictive models. She also is the founder of the Data Mentorship Program - a virtual mentorship program designed to provide data enthusiasts a chance to get mentored by industry experts.

 

What will you need to participate in this event

1. Computer with internet connectivity and web browser (Safari, Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer)

2. A camera and microphone to be able to ask questions

Targeted at young women grades 5-9, but any student is welcome.

Do I need to know how to use a computer before I attend this event?

This will be a webinar event. Girls will need the help of their parent or guardian to login into the event url. 

What do I do on the day of?

Girls will need to sign into the event a few minutes before webinar start time to ensure we start on time.

Are there minimum age requirements to enter the event?

The event is targeted at young women grades 5-9, but with strong computing skills a younger attendee will enjoy themselves.
