3-Day Integrated Firearms & Protective Tactics Program

TRICOM CP-FIT is an intensive three-day professional development program integrating Close-Quarters Firearms Integration Tactics (CQ-FIT) with Close Protection Firearms Integration Tactics (CP-FIT). This specialty course is certified by TRICOM Training and is endorsed by the National Tactical Officers Association (NTOA, USA).

The program addresses two interconnected operational challenges: training progresses from individual close-quarter firearms integration to third-party protective tactics, culminating in live-fire application.

Rather than treating shooting, combatives and Close Protection as separate skills, participants learn to integrate them when distance disappears, plans break down and the Protector must rapidly protect, move, control, communicate and respond.

DAY 1: CQ-FIT
Close-Quarters Firearms Integration Tactics

Day 1 establishes the close-quarter foundation through the TRICOM CQ-FIT methodology. CQ-FIT integrates combative skills, positioning, weapon protection, firearm access and tactical response within compressed distances where conventional range-based solutions may not be sufficient.

Training elements may include:

  • Close Quarter Firearms Fundamentals
  • Close-quarter threat dynamics
  • Firearms integration principles
  • Empty-hand-to-firearm transitions
  • Positioning and movement under pressure
  • Weapon access, retention and protection
  • Managing physical contact before weapon access
  • Clinch-range firearms integration
  • Ground and compromised positions
  • Decision-making under pressure
  • Progressive partner drills
  • Scenario-based application

Objective: Develop the ability to adapt when a lethal-force confrontation occurs at contact or extreme close-quarter distance.

DAY 2: CP-FIT
Close Protection Firearms Integration Tactics

CP-FIT takes CQ-FIT integration principles and applies them to the operational requirements of Close Protection. The Protector must manage the threat, firearm, Principal, environment and protective team while maintaining the overriding mission: PROTECT THE PRINCIPAL.

Training progresses from individual protective responses to coordinated protective tactics.

Training elements may include:

  • Protective firearms principles and positioning
  • Principal management during armed incidents
  • Weapon access while maintaining protection
  • Protective movement with a Principal
  • Individual and team protective responses
  • Protective Immediate Action
  • Threat-based contact and break-contact principles
  • Communication during armed incidents
  • Cover, movement and extraction
  • Vehicle mount/dismount considerations
  • Vehicle-based protective firearms concepts
  • Active-threat mitigation
  • Decision-making under pressure
  • Force-on-force protective scenarios

DAY 3: LIVE-FIRE INTEGRATION
From Close-Quarter Survival to Protective Application

Day 3 integrates both systems through structured live-fire training.

Session 1: CQ-FIT Live Fire
Progressive exercises reinforce firearm safety, weapon management, movement, positional problem-solving and transitioning from close-quarter encounters into effective firearm employment.

Session 2: CP-FIT Live Fire
The focus shifts to protective operations, integrating firearm competency with protective positioning, Principal management, movement, communication and extraction.

Integrated Application
Apply firearm competency within realistic close-quarter and protective operational contexts.

WHY CQ-FIT + CP-FIT?

Traditional firearms training often begins once the weapon is accessible and sufficient distance exists to employ it. Real confrontations may not provide that distance.

Close Protection adds another challenge: the Protector may need to address an immediate threat while simultaneously shielding, controlling, moving and extracting the Principal.

CQ-FIT develops the individual integration. CP-FIT applies it to the protective mission. Together, they bridge the gap between close-quarter survival, firearm employment and Principal protection.
