TRICOM Advanced Expandable Baton Instructor Certification Course
November 24–25, 2026
This intensive 2-day certification course covers fundamental and advanced tactics of expandable baton application, developed over the past 16 years by the course instructor, Jared Wihongi.
In addition to his international reputation as a Close Quarters Combat (CQC) Instructor, Jared is a lifelong student of multiple martial arts and combatives systems. He specializes in the impact weapon-based combat arts of the Philippines and brings over two decades of law enforcement experience, both full-time and reserve. Most of his career has been spent serving on SWAT teams and working as a Use-of-Force Instructor.
Throughout this course, participants will learn the principles, tactics, and applications of the expandable baton in both personal protection and professional operational environments. Training will focus on practical skills, efficient mechanics, tactical decision-making, and real-world application under pressure.
All course participants will require:
- Training t-shirt or suitable training top
- Tactical or BDU cargo pants
- Indoor training shoes
- Personal training expandable baton (if available)
- Note-taking materials
All participants are responsible for their own meals, snacks, and hydration.
DO NOT bring any live firearms, ammunition, OC spray, or other live weapons into the training environment.
