This programme is for those who support young people on a one-to-one, or small group basis, as part of targeted interventions. Our eLearning, 'An Introduction to Psychological Trauma in Children & Young People', will be made available to you in advance of this one-day course. Participants will develop a deeper understanding of trauma-informed environments and relationships and learn practical skills and strategies for building alliance and rapport, and for calming, co-regulation, and positive connections.
Outcomes - By the end of the day, participants will be able to:
- Understand the importance of safe environments
- Assess why physical environments are important to developing a trauma informed approach | Define key environmental aspects | Analyse why experience of trauma may be triggered by physical environments.
- Use the Calm, Connect, Communicate model in one-to-one interventions
- Understand the core elements of creating a secure alliance | Describe how a CCC approach may be used in one-to-one relationships.
- Understand calming and co-regulation with skills & activity development
- Understand emotional regulation and co-regulation strategies | Identify and demonstrate three brainstem calming activities.
- Build connections, trust, safety and skills & activity development
- Describe how to explore safety in relationship | Demonstrate activities to improve safety in relationship.
- Develop self-awareness and communication skills & activity development
- Describe the role of self-awareness in development | Understand the connection between relationships and learning | Demonstrate activities to improve self-awareness and capacity for relationship.
Who: Premier League Kicks delivery staff and Premier League Inspires delivery staff. Delegates that attended Trauma Aware & Skilled Coaching (Day 1) or have completed 'An introduction to psychological trauma in children and young people' eLearning.
Please note that by submitting your 'register for interest' form, you are agreeing to a cancellation fee payable to PLCF (£150 for courses that are made up of two or less sessions and £300 for courses that have more than two sessions) per delegate, which will be charged back to your CCO in the following circumstances:
- You give less than 14 days notice of your withdrawal without suitable replacement
- You fail to attend on the day
- You fail to attend the full duration of the training day(s)
- You fail to complete the full course (this includes any coursework, examinations or other requirements in addition to attending all training sessions)
