Event Summary
Building upon the success of the previous years, the sixth annual ToxTalks graduate student symposium is a one-day event on March 23, 2019 hosted at Simon Fraser University (SFU), bringing together graduate students with interdisciplinary interests who research drugs, carcinogens, and environmental pollutants in humans and in the environment.
This event will be an opportunity for graduate students from Canada to present their research and network with other students who are engaged in similar fields of research. The event will feature graduate student presentations, a keynote speaker, and a fun evening social event.
All graduate students are strongly encouraged to present their research whether they are beginning their studies and looking for feedback on research proposals, or are about to graduate. ToxTalks is tailored for students at every stage in their academic career. We also welcome students from a broad range of disciplines, from cellular and molecular scales, to human-population epidemiological studies, to global ecosystems scales, and everything in between. This interdisciplinary event is all about the students.
Interested faculty, staff, and other external environmental toxicology and human health professional community members are also invited to meet and chat with students, and to learn about graduate research happening in this part of the world.
Goals of ToxTalks Symposium 2019
- Provide graduate students an opportunity to present their research and to ask questions to peers also engaged in contaminant-related research
- Facilitate networking between toxicology students in the region, faculty, staff, and other external toxicology-interested community members (e.g., government and industry)
