IStructE UAE Regional Group Committee is inviting you to a webinar by Lee Brankley, Chief Executive Officer, CARES on the topic “Towards digitally enabled sustainable supply chain of Construction Steel products". CARES Digital Model is fully aligned with UAE`s new federal regulation for steel products.
The webinar covers the CARES Cloud – a digital traceability and assurance platform consisting of the CARES Upstream Cloud, CARES Downstream Cloud and other complementary Apps for providing and sharing construction steel product assurance and sustainability data.
The supply chain for steel products is increasingly complex bringing both opportunity and risk. CARES strives to reduce and remove that risk to construction stakeholders, replacing it with the confidence that comes through experience in delivering product assurance services and accurate carbon footprint data. CARES product certification has been specified for all major construction projects in the UK since 1985 including the Channel Tunnel rail-link, Second Severn Crossing; Crossrail, London 2012 Olympics, Hinkley Point C nuclear power station, Thames Tideway, and HS2, the transformative High-Speed rail link from London to Birmingham.
In the United Arab Emirates, CARES has supported the Government’s Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology (MoIAT) - to introduce a Constructional Steel Products Regulation. Introduced in December 2023, this far-reaching requirement is the first regulatory system in the World to require the digital tracking of the product, digital reporting of the product quality information, and an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) of the steel.
The webinar will introduce this industry leading digital solution which contributes to increasing efficiency, quality assurance and sustainability, and delivers a CARES certified product alongside its assurance evidence, via the CARES Cloud – this is traceable across the whole supply chain ensuring that steel is effectively tested, certified, marketed and traced.

Lee Brankley – Chief Executive Officer, CARES
Lee has enjoyed a long and successful career in the steel industry, joining the Certification Authority for Reinforcing Steels (CARES) more than 25 years ago and rising to become General Manager before his appointment as Chief Executive Officer in 2015. Since then, he has transformed CARES operational capability; built strong relationships among stakeholders and delivered transformational sector-leading digital and sustainability strategies for the steel industry. Lee has led projects in the design, development and implementation of digital solutions to improve the process of delivering and managing steel supply chains with a focus on digitalisation. Under his leadership CARES now has offices in Hong Kong, Singapore, UAE and Australia.
