This session will offer theological grounding and ethical reflection for the significant responsibilities entrusted to you in your role. Drawing from the Basis of Union, Scripture, and the Code of Ethics, we will explore the pastoral, theological, and spiritual dimensions of church discipline and restorative practice in the life of the Uniting Church.
Topics will include:
- Our calling as a pilgrim people, open to correction and reconciliation
- The ethics of power, trust, and responsibility in ministerial oversight
- The role of discipline as discipleship and healing, not punishment
- Personal reflection on the values and commitments you bring to your work
This training is part of the annual development commitment for all committee members and an important opportunity to reflect together, strengthen our shared understanding, and ensure our work is grounded in the Church’s vision of justice, healing, and integrity.
