Classroom Session: 4:00PM to 5:30PM
The classroom portion will cover the following key topics:
- 8u Rules & Guidelines: A deep dive into the specific rules and guidelines for 8u games, focusing on age-appropriate calls and expectations.
- Time to Score: An interactive discussion on the timing of scoring and the mechanics involved in making accurate calls during goal situations.
- How to Get Games:
- A step-by-step guide on how to secure games and assignments for the upcoming season.

Availability management:
- Contact information: Who to reach out to for scheduling and updates.
- Schedule Contact and Information: An overview of the schedule system, how to check availability, and the best way to stay updated on game assignments.
- Video Review: A session dedicated to reviewing game footage and identifying key moments that can help you improve your refereeing skills.
Ice Session: 6:10 PM to 7:10 PM
The ice session will be a hands-on workshop focusing on essential skills for on-ice officials:
- Silent Warm-Up: A focus on preparation before games, with a silent warm-up to help you focus and get into the right mental space.
- Face-offs & Dropping the Puck: A breakdown of proper face-off techniques and the mechanics of dropping the puck efficiently.
- 4 Stations: Referees will rotate through five different stations, each designed to develop core skills. These will include:
- Blue Line Position: Understanding where to position yourself during play and how to read the game from the blue line.
- Referee Position: Key positioning tactics for referees to ensure the best possible vantage point for calls and play management.
Parent Class Session 6:00 - 7:00 PM:
While the officials are on the ice, I will hold an hour-long session for the parents, with their devices provided to help them understand the scheduling process. Please bring your device to be able to access the Time To Score Scheduling system.
