Here's one last chance to get a few hours outside this year!
We'll meet by the bridge near the volleyball court to start. Feel free to bring a sled or other toys to play with if it has snowed. A thermos of coffee, hot chocolate, warmed apple juice, or tea can go a long way towards keeping your spirits up when it's chilly out!
At this point of Winter Break I'm fed up with the mess of toys and crafts. My kids have probably had too much sugar and tv. My extended family has left. I'm in need of some time outside my own four walls to BREATHE! If you're feeling similar at all, come walk and play with us!
As long as the weather isn't too rough we'll be outside walking and playing. Rough = wind chill < 15 degrees, hail, rain in cold temps, ice on roads making it difficult/dangerous to drive. It's Ohio, if we can't be outside when it's cold, then we're limiting ourselves to being outside for maybe 4.5 months of the year! Layers are our friend this time of year - wool undergarments or those that wick sweat are best next to the skin. A fleece layer next is always helpful, and then a waterproof coat. Boots, mittens/gloves, hats/balaclava/neck gaiter/scarves, etc, etc (sometimes extras for the kids because you never know when one out of pair of mittens will go missing!)
I needed someone to say this to me, so I'm going to say it to you with love - Mama, you deserve to be warm and happy playing outside, too! You're not growing like the kids are, so an investment in warm clothing is a one time thing for you! I've found great stuff at consignment stores, the outlet malls, and on websites Black Friday deals (Columbia, Columbia Factory Outlet, North Face, Polarn o Pyret, and LL Bean have great sales throughout the year as well!) Signing up for email notifications of sales is helpful. I scored a Columbia fleece for myself last year for 64% off!
