This event is hosted by the Morris County Unit.
New to a Unit event? NASW-NJ has 12 volunteer-led, county-based Units that hold regional events around the state of New Jersey for members in that area. (However due to the public health emergency, Unit events will be held virtually until further notice!) These events are planned and coordinated by an appointed volunteer Chair and Co-Chair, as well as a Regional Representative from NASW-NJ’s Board of Directors. The Morris County Unit Chairs are Cheryl Cohen, MSW, LCSW (cherylcohen.msw@gmail.com) and Veronica Grysko-Sporer, MSW (vgsporer@gmail.com) and the Northwest Regional Representative is also Veronica Grysko-Sporer.
Unit events are a fun, informative way to grow your network near your home or workplace. These events are one of the many benefits of NASW-NJ membership, but we do invite all mental health professional to join us at this meeting. Learn more about our Units here.
TEAM-CBT: A New Approach to All Modalities of Therapy
Date: Wednesday, January 13th from 6:00-7:30pm
Zoom login information will be emailed to you once you register.
Presented by: Dan Linehan
TEAM-CBT was created by psychiatrist and best-selling author David Burns and is not a school of therapy, but rather a way of doing all of forms psychotherapy. TEAM-CBT uses over 10 different modalities including CBT, Exposure, Psychodynamic, Gestalt, DBT, REBT, Solution-Focused and Motivational Interviewing. TEAM stands for T(testing) E(empathy) A(assessment of resistance) and M(methods) and is very systematic in covering all issues relating to Mood issues such as depression and anxiety, Habits & Addictions, and Interpersonal issues. TEAM-CBT's approach is aimed at melting away client's resistance with a technique called "Positive Reframing" in which the therapist becomes the client's subconscious resistance and brings this resistance into conscious awareness. This allows the therapist to easily get past the "yeah, but" responses clients often give even when they are consciously willing to change.
