Communicating effectively with colleagues: When you enter the door at the start of the new year or the beginning of a new week, that might mean you will see some new faces among the teaching staff. How do you get to know these new faces, learn facts about them and make them feel comforatable? You could possibly have colleagues that you have worked with for some time now, but you lack some vital working relationships. You would benefit from team building strategies for you and your group. Research shows that when you incorpoarate team-building strategies into your school, it creates a sense of belonging, encourages tolerance, team spirit, improves communication skills, and creates an atmosphere of community.
The purpose of this workshop is to build a conceptual framework to explain and experience activities that influence team building among pre-school teachers and staff to improve morale. We will also analyze the variables, such as school environment, school climate, different leaders, leader changes, years of teaching experience, teaching and planning time, school population, and types of student programs at the school which can affect the team as a whole.
Essential Question: What are the best practices for implementing team building and how can these practices encourage teachers to have a more positive outlook on their profession?
