Economics, personal finance, and entrepreneurialism are everywhere! In this workshop, you’ll see how Broadway musicals can be used to teach students about economics, personal finance, entrepreneurialism, and the Jacksonville economy. You’ll meet with an executive from FSCJ’s Artist Series, attend a full performance of Kinky Boots, and have a Q&A session after the show with some of the actors from the Broadway touring cast!

Why Kinky Boots? It is true story and a great fit with economics and entrepreneurialism. A man inherits his father’s failing shoe factory. It just can’t compete with cheap imports. Then, he turns around his business by offering a product that no one else makes – women’s boots that are comfortable for men to wear! It’s a true life story that’s a great example of the difficulties that international trade can pose and importance of product differentiation. A light dinner featuring sandwiches will be provided. Most dietary concerns can be accommodated with advanced notice.

When: Thursday, May 4 from 5:30 p.m. until 10:00 p.m.

Where: The Times Union Center for the Performing Arts, Davis Gallery
