Thursday, Oct 16, 2025 at 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM CDT

Southwest Texas Law Enforcement Academy, 2401 Garner Field Road, Uvalde, TX, 78801, United States.

You must have your PID and OpenFox/TLETS ID to attend this class and receive proper credit! The DPS now requires students to complete the course test on NexTest within four days of course completion. This is typically done at the student's agency. Students without an OpenFox ID will not be able to take the test.

Failure to complete the test by the designated deadline will result in the student having to retake the course. There will be no extensions or exceptions.

These are the TCIC/TLETS courses required by the Texas DPS. If you are unsure which course to attend, contact your Terminal Agency Coordinator (TAC). The courses are:

TCIC/TLETS Mobile Operator Training Course (TCOLE #4800 - 8 hours): This course is for operators who perform TCIC/NCIC functions at any level lower than full access. Generally, this pertains to inquiry only, including mobile digital terminal (MDT) or laptop computer operators. It also covers information about driver's licenses and vehicle registration. This course requires the TCIC/TLETS Operation Manual Part 1. This course is for officers who access returns on an MDT, the DA's office employees, and jailers who do not run CCQ.

TCIC/TLETS Less Than Full Access Operator Training Course (TCOLE #4801 - 16 hours): This course is for operators who perform TCIC/NCIC functions at any level lower than full access. Generally, this pertains to inquiry only. It also covers navigation of the databases that are connected to the TLETS system, such as administrative messages, driver's licenses, vehicle registration, and instructions regarding proper procedures for broadcasting in the state and nationwide. This course requires the TCIC/TLETS Operation Manual Parts 1 - 2. This course is for dispatchers who do not enter into NCIC/TCIC and jailers who run CCQ.

TCIC/TLETS Full Access Operator Training Course (TCOLE #4802 - 24 hours): This course is for operators who perform all TCIC/NCIC functions, including inquiry, entry, modification, clearing, canceling, and III functions. It also covers navigation of the databases that are connected to the TLETS system, such as administrative messages, driver's licenses, vehicle registration, and instructions regarding proper procedures for broadcasting in the state and nationwide. This course requires the TCIC/TLETS Operation Manual Parts 1 - 3. This course is for dispatchers and court/record clerks who enter TCIC/NCIC.

TCOLE credit will be given and submitted by the DPS.
