Presentation Overview:
This talk will give an overview of the London Tunnels section of the High Speed 2 project in the UK. This section, comprising Contracts S1 & S2, covers approximately 26km of the overall route, predominantly in tunnel, running from Euston Station in central London to the western outskirts of the city. The tunnels are a combined of bored, mined and cut and cover construction together with ventilation shafts, cross passages and large underground structures. As well as a description of the main elements of the works, the talk will cover some of the challenges of constructing tunnels within a dense urban setting and in close proximity to a major existing operational railway.
