Have you ever dreamed of starting your own home-based food business in Orange County?
Microenterprise Home Kitchen Operations (MEHKOs) allow community members to legally cook and sell meals from their home kitchens with proper permits and food safety training. Already operating in many counties across California, MEHKOs create new opportunities for small business growth, entrepreneurship, and locally made food in our communities.
Join us for a community gathering to learn what MEHKOs are, how they can support aspiring home cooks like you, and how together we can bring this program to Orange County.
At this event, you’ll learn different ways to support the implementation of MEHKOs, including:
- Sharing your story about why MEHKOs matter
- Signing up to give public comment at an upcoming Board of Supervisors meeting
- Getting involved in community advocacy efforts
Food will be provided
This event is hosted in collaboration with LB Fresh, Tiyya Foundation, Cooperación Santa Ana, and COOK Alliance.
Together, we can support local entrepreneurs and expand opportunities for home-based food businesses in Orange County.
