These are the art workshops we have planned with our resident artists through the summer. All are welcome to these workshops - whether you are picking up a brush or printing for the first time, jump starting a long dormant talent, or looking to take your practice to the next level. Do come and join us for a glass of wine and make some art!
There are 20 spaces for each workshop. Tickets are £10 per person, with concessions for anyone unwaged. Contact the organiser for more information.
Older children are welcome under the supervision of a parent or carer.
Materials will be provided, but bring clothes to get messy.
What's happening and when:
'Looking at the overlooked', 23rd July... Led by Ally Gordon and Dohyun Baek. Art can be a way to see things that normal go unnoticed. In this workshop we’ll be looking for overlooked objects and mini landscapes that will be the starting point for small acrylic paintings
'So you say you can't draw', 30th of July... Led by Chris Miller. Chris is a 73 yr old disabled artist who has also been a science teacher and youth and community worker. He has exhibted at the Barbican and Southbank Centres, and spoken about his art at the Wellcome Centre and Royal Academy.
'Painting workshop' 6th August... The third workshop is a painting workshop led by Magdalena Gluszak-Holeksa and Ella Reid. Magda and Ella are Polish and South African artists based in London, who are interested in memory, knowledge beyond the senses and the transcendant in nature.
'Thinking through textiles' 13th August... The fourth workshop, led by Amanda Colares Silva and Renatha Hoga will see participants making a Fabric Printed (Sublimation) Sample with Heat Press Printing and Decorative hand stitching. It is for adults or children with the help of adults (as it involves needles, and the option to heat-press print your fabric with the assistance of Amanda). The aim is for participants to have fun exploring their own narratives through experimenting with the textiles media. Building skills through playing with composition and collage. Everyone will leave with at least 1 ‘fabric artwork’ to take home with them, or the option of doing more (until we run out of material or time!)
