What You’ll Need

  • Your camera (DSLR or mirrorless) with a telephoto lens (400mm equivalent or longer)
  • A laptop with Adobe Lightroom or the photo editing software of your choice
  • A passion for birds and photography!

Workshop Style: Instructional Safari

This event is designed to offer maximum shooting opportunities combined with both field and classroom-style training. The itinerary will be arranged to maximize photography in the best conditions, meaning early morning and late afternoon shooting, combined with mid-day computer learning sessions. I will also conduct a pre-workshop orientation over Zoom to answer any questions you may have about gear and accessories. 

Activity level: Mild 

You will be expected to carry your gear on flat, level boardwalks up to a mile.

Experience Level: Beginner to advanced

You are expected to know the fundamentals of autofocus and exposure settings for your camera, and how to change them.

Instructional Fee

$1899 per photographer (maximum 8)

A $300 deposit reserves your seat until Feb. 1, 2026. Final balance is due thereafter. Save $100 when you book by Nov. 1, 2025.

General Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive for 3pm orientation and technical setup workshop at the group hotel

Days 2-4: Field photography at one or more of the shooting locations in the mornings and afternoons. Mid-day post-processing workshops and image review sessions. Group image review on the final afternoon. 

Day 5: Check out and depart for home

Payment & Cancellation Policy

Deposits are non-refundable unless the event is canceled by the organizer; you may purchase travel insurance to protect your investment in this trip.

He has authored 13 comprehensive photography guides, including guides to the Nikon Z9 camera, Adobe Photoshop Lightroom and Nik Plug-ins. Jason has been leading photography workshops and instructional photo tours since 2007.
