"We love life if we can find a way to it" - Mahmoud Darwish

In these darkest times, people are finding joy any which way they can – dancing, singing, playing music and more.

Yet, Tareq Hajjaj, Gaza Correspondent for Mondoweiss writes, after relaying the relentless horrors he has to report, ‘Sadness looms over the hearts of the Palestinians in Gaza. It is slowly killing them and turning them into people who are losing hope little by little.’

We have implored, marched, demanded action to end the genocide in Gaza, yet it continues. But it will end, and again the people in Gaza will descend on the beaches to swim, float and just hang about.

Our Swim With Gaza this year is to keep faith with the people of Gaza, that things can and will get better and in act of solidarity we aim to join thousands of other people around the world swimming in solidarity with the people of Gaza.

So please join us on Sunday 25th August at 3pm at Burrow Beach between Sutton and Howth, to swim, paddle, wade or just splash in solidarity.

What to Bring: It's not mandatory, but it would be great if people could wear red, black, green or white swimming gear - the colours of the Palestinian flag; it will make for some great visuals that we can put on socials. Palestinian flags, football jerseys, keffiyeh scarves are all welcome too.

Getting There: Burrow Beach (map) can be easily reached by DART (Stop: Sutton) and by Dublin Bus (Route:H3 - Stop: Burrow School). There is also paid parking at Sutton train station, and limited free parking along Burrow Road.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Burrow Beach is a safe beach and has a lifeguard on duty until 7pm; however by joining this solidarity event you are doing so at your own risk, and thereby indemnifying the Ireland-Palestine Solidarity Campaign from any culpability in the event of accident, death, etc.
