The Silver Industry Standards eXchange with its theme on “Age Well with Standards” brings together subject matter experts and practitioners to share insights on how organisations can leverage quality and standards to promote business growth, increase productivity, and improve quality, safety, and ease of use of products and services for older adults. In conjunction with the eXchange, there is an exhibition to showcase products and services to support the ageing population.
The Silver Industry Standards Committee and SPRING will also be launching a new Singapore Standard (SS 618) on “Guidelines on user interface design for older adults” and announcing the Roadmap for Silver Industry Standards to support active ageing for the next three to five years.
SS 618 is developed based on SIM University’s study on the usage of IT devices and online services among Singaporeans between 55 and 75 years old. It provides guidance to developers and designers on the principles of user interface design to enhance the user experience of older adults. This guideline promotes an age-friendly society and bridges the digital divide between Singapore’s young and older adults.
The Roadmap for Silver Industry Standards supports national priorities and the Action Plan for Successful Ageing. Developed based on a framework of senior-centric key elements, the Roadmap provides infrastructural support to facilitate easy access by seniors, and supports them to live, work and play actively.
