The SHM Maryland Chapter will be holding an in-person event on Thursday, November 20, 2025 at 6:00 p.m. ET at Mount Washington Tavern in Baltimore, MD. Please join the chapter to meet and network with other clinicians in your community and for the chapter's annual scientific abstract competition where residents and students will be showcasing their work in research, innovations, and clinical vignettes.

The SHM Maryland Chapter invites Hospitalists, Residents, APPs, and Medical Students to submit abstracts to their annual Scientific Abstract Competition.
Submission Categories: Research, Innovations, Clinical Vignettes
Submission Requirements: Unless otherwise noted, please follow the Society of Hospital Medicine National Abstract Guidelines.
- Abstract Title, author information, abstract category
- Abstract text (≤ 3000 characters)
- Optional: up to 2 supporting figures/tables (PDF or document format)
- Submit your abstract through the Abstract Submission Portal.
Submission Deadline: Tuesday, October 21, 2025 at 11:59 p.m. ET
Notification of Acceptance: Tuesday, November 4, 2025
The first-place winner will receive automatic acceptance to the National Scientific Abstract Competition taking place during SHM’s annual Conference, Converge, in Nashville, TN, March 29 - April 1, 2026 and will be required to submit their abstract to the national submission site by the November 24, 2025 deadline in order to be accepted. This winner will also receive a $500 prize, a complimentary registration to attend the conference, and a complimentary one-year membership to SHM (if not a current member). The second-place winner will receive a $300 Amazon gift card. The third-place winner will receive a $200 Amazon gift card.
