SHM Lake Erie Chapter Meeting

Professor of Medicine-served as division chief for the division of hospital medicine at the University of Kentucky Healthcare, Lexington, Ky. He also served as a medical director for Physician Information Technology Services and is a certified Epic physician builder. He has been involved with SHM for a decade and has played roles in chapters, committees, and SIGs. He also provides medical leadership for all clinical information systems and innovative technology, and champions medical informatics for the advancement of the clinical quality.

Dr. Whinney served as the Department Chair for Hospital Medicine at the Cleveland Clinic.  He serves as an active member of the national SHM Board of Directors. He was the course director for SHM Converge, the society's premier national annual conference. He has contributed to the SHM Annual Meeting Committee and the SHM Perioperative Task Force. His Clinical Interests include inpatient and perioperative medicine. He co-founded and organized the popular "MED-TED" rapid-fire presentation competition at SHM annual conference. He enjoys mentoring students, residents and faculty and has been awarded 2018 Master Teacher of the Year Award by ACP Ohio and the 2020 Center for Excellence in Coaching and Mentoring’s Mentor of the Year award at the Cleveland Clinic.
