This one day online course (via Zoom) will help schools to draw up their sustainability policy and develop an achieveable and manageable action plan. We will cover:

- what is required (policy etc)

- engaging learners, parents and staff

- the role of the sustanibility lead in your school

- key components of the policy and plan:

  • Aims & Values: Your school's commitment to sustainability.
  • Roles & Responsibilities: Who does what.
  • Curriculum & Learning: Integrating sustainability into lessons.
  • Food & Catering: Sustainable food choices and waste reduction.
  • Waste & Recycling: Managing waste effectively.
  • Energy & Water: Reducing consumption.
  • Transport & Travel: Promoting sustainable commuting.
  • Buildings & Grounds: Greening the school environment.
While you might not need a document labeled "Sustainability Policy," you absolutely need the substance of one in the form of a Climate Action Plan (CAP), with leadership in place, as part of the UK government's educational strategy.

At the end of the day you will receive an 'action pack' to support the implementation in your school, containing policy templates, presentations for governors and staff, fliers for parents and information for your website.

The day will be delivered by a climate specialist who has over 20 years of experience in school leadership.
