This full day, online course is tailored to the football club charity environment and underpinned by the social model of disability, with a strong emphasis on promoting equality and inclusivity.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Understand the increased vulnerabilities of children and young people with disabilities (to abuse, neglect and exploitation)
  • Describe some of the specific signs and risk indicators of abuse in disabled children
  • Explain the importance of harnessing protective factors and strengthening an inclusive approach to practice
  • Explain the additional barriers to ‘speaking up, speaking out’ for children and young people with disabilities – and how we can mitigate these.
  • Apply best practice principles in promoting and listening to a ‘disabled child’s voice’
  • Actively build a more inclusive and safer environment for disabled children

Who: Anyone who would like to increase, re-fresh, update or extend their knowledge, understanding and confidence in the fundamental principles of safeguarding disabled children and young people in the football club charity environment.
