Run for Ryan is an annual 10km run, taking place virtually around the world and in person at locations in central London and Chatelherault Country Park, Scotland.

Our event brings people together to remember Ryan McCabe: a dad of three young boys, husband, son, uncle and friend to many. Ryan was also the CEO of Odro, an innovative recruitment technology platform which supported recruiters globally. Tragically in June 2024, at the age of 35, Ryan lost his life in a motorbike accident.

The Ryan McCabe Foundation was initiated in early 2025 to carry on Ryan's legacy of bringing people together and helping others. Our inaugural Run for Ryan in March 2025 brought together over 600 runners globally and raised £30,000 which was donated to: Teenage Cancer Trust, McMillan Cancer Care, Make a Wish Foundation, Andy's Man Club and Eilidh's Rainbow. Ryan worked tirelessly in his lifetime to support each of these worthy causes.

As. before, with thanks to our sponsors, we can pledge that 100% of your entry fees from Run for Ryan 2026 will go to this year's chosen charities: Young Minds, Marie Curie, Action for Children and the My Name'5 Doddie Foundation. Ryan would have been delighted to support such worthy causes.

Virtual Run

Run or walk 10km from anywhere you like with this option! You can take part at any point from the 6th-9th of March. Be sure to log you run on Strava using #RunforRyan2026, or take a selfie and upload to any social media platform. Following sign-up, you'll receive your runner's pack in the post with everything you'll need!

London Leg

The London Run for Ryan will kick off at 11am on the 7th of March from the Bullhorn offices (7 Devonshire Square, London, EC2M 4YH). This year in London, you have the choice of undertaking one 5km loop around the city landmarks of London, or going the whole 10km with two rounds, so be sure to select the option right for you. Further information will be provided upon sign-up.

The Main in-person Event

300 places are available for our in-person 10km which will begin at 11am on the 7th of March in Chatelherault Country Park (Carlisle Rd, Hamilton, ML3 7UE) so be quick to sign up if this is the option for you! The route follows a gruelling trail through the forest with steep hills and muddy tracks. There is the option to take it at your own pace though, with many participants choosing to jog/walk last year. Participants should have a reasonable level of fitness and aim to complete the course in under 2 hours. Make sure you arrive an hour before the event to collect your bib and chip timer (these must be returned upon completion or a fee will be incurred) from the check-in desk.

Burgers and water will kindly be provided on completion of the run to all participants and volunteers thanks to the kind support of the Rapid Relief Team.

Finishers bags will also be provided on completion and our medal presentations will take place at the podium for both kids and adults once all participants have crossed the finish line.

Toliet facilities will be available at the main house and in porta-loos located in the car park on your right when you enter the park.

Parking attendants will be in place to ensure the safe parking of vehicles. However, we encourage participants and spectators to car-share or make use of the neably public transport links.

The in-person kid's Event

This year, we welcome 100 entrants aged between 10-14 to participate in a 5km run at Chatelherault Country Park. This will kick off from the path at the foot of the main house at 10.45am and we would encourage participants to be there around 45 minutes early to collect bibs and chip timers from the check-in desk. Runners are expected to have a good level of fitness and will be accompanied by PVG checked adults around the course, so there is no need to have a parent or guardian accompany between the start and finish line. We encourage everyone to remain at the start line following the adults 10km run setting off, as this is where the kids will come in to finish. Cheer as loud as you can for our next generation of athletes! A medal presentation will take place following run.

Kid's Fun Run

For children under 10, there will be a kid's fun run (no more than 1-2km) around the grass area in front of the main house, whilst the adult run is taking place. This will keep children active and entertained and there is no limit to how many childen can take part. However, please note that a parent or guardian must remain with each child at all times. There will also be bouncy castles which children are welcome to use under adult supervision and we only ask for a donation to cover the costs.

Volunteers

This event wouldn't have been such a roaring success last year if it wasn't for the help and support of our hundreds of volunteers. From providing first aid to dishing out water and fruit, helping with registrations and handing out finishers goody bags, the help people brought on the day made the event run seamlessly. If you're able to provide any kind of assistance, sign up using the link and we'll be in touch with a job allocation list. If perhaps you have a speciality, for example if you're a first-aider or a photographer, highlight this by getting in touch at info@ryanmccabefoundation.org and we can have a chat about how you could support. We're more than grateful for any help!

Merchandise

This year, we are delighed to work with Kraken Creatives who will supply t-shirts (both mens, womens and kids sizes) along with hoodies.

Should you like to purchase any, please follow the link:
