Reading and Writing around Literary Non-Fiction June 14, 2017

This one day workshop is an in depth look at digging deeper into narrative non-fiction texts as readers and writers. We will look at ways to read narrative non-fiction texts, cull out information, and strengthen overall comprehension. We will discuss the importance of bridging our knowledge of fiction and expository to support comprehension in narrative-nonfiction. Additionally, we will apply these skills to writing work for your students. We will also work on strengthening narrative-nonfiction writing (biography) using mentor texts. This workshop pairs nicely with Digging Deeper into Expository Texts.   Registration fee includes trade books for use in your classroom!

Appropriate for 2nd-8th  grade teachers

ALL WORKSHOPS WILL BEGIN AT 8:45 AM AND CONCLUDE AT 3:45 PM   ALL REGISTRATIONS MUST BE PAID PRIOR TO THE WORKSHOP.  BECAUSE THIS IS NOT A CONSULTANT DAY, TITLE ONE FUNDS WILL DO THIS FOR A REGISTRATION FEE.  

You may want to arrive between 8:20 and 8:30 to sign in, pick up materials and find seating.  If you 

are expecting a large group from your school it is a good idea to come early if sitting together is important to you.  Dress comfortably and you may want to add layers...buildings can be really cold.
