The Live Archive public program continues to foster the exchange of research, ideas, and experiences in our community. On Thursday, August 6, at 20:00, LFA will host a lecture titled “Preserve for Whom: Comparative Community Archival Methods” with HiHaleb x Sudanahye.

Hi Haleb, is a digital community archive that attempts to centralize, digitize, record, document and curate the everyday life of Aleppo – Armenians; through oral histories, GIS mapping, digital photo archives, memory walks and community memoirs this archive seeks to co-construct Aleppo-Armenians’ collective memory written by the people for the people.

Sudanahye is the Sudanese-Armenian Heritage Project, a multimedia research project documenting the history of the Sudanese-Armenian community. The project is establishing an oral history and photographic archive to document the history of the community and  preserve the heritage and culture of the Sudanese Armenian community.

The event will bring together both projects to present their archival practices through a case study of a shared spatial or architectural element. A moderated Q&A will place the two approaches in dialogue, opening broader questions about archiving, memory, and community.
