Workshop description:
For anyone who considers themselves a total or near beginner to plant recording then please come along to this workshop where the aim will be to teach participants how to identify wildflowers through recognising their families and to help you build up your confidence in using identification keys. We’ll explore the plant kingdom and the botanical terms used to describe plants, but don’t panic as there will be helpful hand-outs and freshly collected plant specimens to help you practice and improve your identification skills.

Health & Safety:
Please be mindful that this workshop includes an element of teaching outdoors. Warm waterproof clothing and footwear are essential. As a rule of thumb, it is generally expected that any participants who sign up for a workshop that involves spending time in the outdoors will own and bring the appropriate outdoor clothing. Good walking boots and warm waterproof clothing are essential.

The National Biodiversity Data Centre is a national organisation for the collection, collation, management, analysis and dissemination of data on Ireland’s biological diversity. Biodiversity data are a key requirement for understanding our natural surroundings, for tracking change in our environment and for gaining a greater insight on how we benefit from, and impact upon, the ecosystem goods and services provided by biological diversity; a national asset which contributes at least €2.6 billion to the Irish economy each year. The Data Centre was established by the Heritage Council in 2007 and is funded by the Heritage Council and the Department of Culture, Heritage and the Gaeltacht. The Centre is operated under a service level agreement by Compass Informatics Limited, an information and location technologies company focused on applications in natural resources and planning.
