The Pontifical Institute of Sacred Music (PIMS), founded by Saint Pius X in 1910, is the Vatican’s academic center dedicated to the study and advancement of sacred music. Recognized as a Pontifical University, it confers the degrees of Baccalaureate, Licentiate, and Doctorate in Sacred Music and serves as a global reference point for research, formation, and artistic excellence in Gregorian chant, polyphony, composition, organ, and liturgical music.
Located in the historic Abbey of San Girolamo in Rome, PIMS welcomes over 150 students from more than 40 countries, fostering an international community committed to the Church’s musical heritage and mission.
