Starting a community pasture from scratch, on leased land, takes a thoughtful plan. The Lambton St. Clair Community Pasture will talk about getting started and the work they’ve completed through the Community Pastures Initiative, including designing a pasture layout and watering system. RAPPA will also provide a fencing demo.

The Lambton St. Clair Community Pasture is a new startup community pasture in southern Lambton County. The pasture is very unique in that it is a joint venture where the community pasture is on leased land from the St. Clair Conservation Authority. When completed it will be over 170 acres of pasture. The pasture aims to support younger producers and new entrants, as well being a place to try new equipment and technology.
The Community Pastures Initiative is a $5 million investment from the governments of Canada and Ontario to help rejuvenate the community pastures, making them more productive and resilient. Learn more here.
