Nonviolent Communication (NVC)

The aim of this workshop is to provide the basics of Nonviolent Communication (NVC).  In NVC there is the assumption that we are all compassionate by nature and that violent strategies—whether verbal or physical—are learned behaviours taught and supported by the prevailing culture. NVC also assumes that we all share the same, basic human needs, and that each of our actions are a strategy to meet one or more of these needs. NVC provides the tools for connecting openly to yourself and others.  People who practice NVC have found greater authenticity in their communication, increased understanding, deepening connection and conflict resolution. NVC is used worldwide in business, education and possible areas of conflict.

Workshop leader Biography 

Lloyd Bethell ..

is a Senior Lecturer at Laurea University of Applied Services, Finland.  At the moment he teaches English and intercultural communication  in the social services and nursing degree programmes.  He has been living in Finland for 25 years, during which time he has taught language and communication skills in a kindergarten, various  ministries, companies and schools, the Finnish Defence Forces and has been teaching at the university  level for the past 14 years. He is a Master Practitioner in neuro-linguistic programming and a nonviolent communication trainer. Professional interests include virtual pedagogy, intercultural communication and mental management.
