Registration for this workshop will be limited to the first 50 registrants.
Registration will close on April 12. One application must be completed for each individual attending the conference. If space permits, onsite registration will be accepted in cash or check only. Company P.O.s from facility must be paid in full by conference date (you may bring payment) or you MAY NOT attend the conference.
Continuing Education Units: Sessions are subject to change. CEUs are have been pre-approved through the American Therapeutic Recreation Association. ATRA has been reviewed and approved as an Authorized Provider by the International Association for Continuing Education and Training. There is no additional fee for Continuing Education Units (CEUs) for professionals.
Refund Policy: All fees are non-refundable after April 17, 2017.

Spring Workshop 2019 at Kessler

This session will go over general knowledge regarding diabetes management in the pediatric population. We will go into depth on how we run our program at our facility and the role that recreation plays in each child’s inpatient stay. We will introduce the assessment tools that we use for tracking progress, the goals our department will work on and several treatment session ideas. The audiences should leave with a basic understanding of both type 1 and type 2 diabetes as well as goals and treatment ideas for this population.

This session will provide guidelines for assessing risk related to various recreation therapy programs as well as present strategies to mitigate risk while delivering safe and beneficial programming. Topics discussed will include risk management in adapted sports and physically involved programs, off-site community outings, safely implementing new technology in programs and general best practices in risk management.

Community integration is an important feature of recreational therapy services for many client groups. This session will review key components of community re-integration and resource development for therapists to best support the physical, social and psychosocial needs for individuals to ensure successful participation within the greater community.
