Neonatal Hypoglycemia: A Look at the Medical and Legal Issues

The presentation features Dr. Michael Narvey, one of the principal authors of the Canadian Pediatric Society position statement ‘The Screening and Management of Newborns at Risk for Low Blood Glucose’.  Despite its potential for significant injury, hypoglycemia remains one of the most common newborn conditions. Dr. Narvey will define hypoglycemia, identify risk factors, discuss screening, intervention, and management, and  talk about the recently updated protocols which include preventing recurrence after hospital discharge.
