Royal Society of Medicine, 1 Wimpole Street, London, England, W1G 0AE, United Kingdom.

The NED Science Forum is back for 2026. Hosted by the NED Editorial Board and supported by BANT, the NED Science Forum is open to BANT members and allied healthcare professionals with an interest in nutrition science.

NED SCIENCE FORUM

Realising the Vision of Preventative Health - Translating Genetic and Wearable Data

For preventative health to be realised in the UK, as set out in the NHS 10-year plan, it needs to put nutrition and lifestyle at its core.  What role does genetic and wearable data have to play in achieving the preventative health ambitions? Join us for presentation, debate and discussion on preventative health and how nutrition professionals are harnessing the power of genetics and wearable data to inform their science-based decision making and transforming lives. The NED Science Forum includes:

Nutrigenomics

A keynote address from an industry leader Assistant Professor of Precision Nutrition, Yiannis Mavrommatis from the Lake Lucerne Institute. With a panel discussion and debate with presenters and the NED Editorial Board, including questions from the audience.

Wearable Data, including CGMs

A keynote address from an industry leader (tbc). With a panel discussion and debate with presenters and the NED Editorial Board, including questions from the audience.

Translating the science into meaningful, clinically relevant and evidence-based recommendations

The afternoon continues with a series of case reports, which demonstrate how genetic and wearable data is being used by Registered Nutritional Therapists in their clinics and how NHS primary care can benefit from collaboration with BANT members. Dawn Waldron, BANT Fellow, will present on the power of nutrigenetics in integrative cancer care. A further case report will be presented on the use of wearable data in the delivery of personalised nutrition recommendations (speaker TBC). The event concludes with a presentation from NED Managing Editor, Clare Grundel, who will share the results of the BANT 2025 IBS impact study and plans for the future.

Networking and Gala Evening

The NED Science Forum includes plenty of quality networking time with event attendees and sponsors and concludes with a drinks gala evening in the Cavendish Room of The Royal Society of Medicine.

Nutrition Genetics: Genes Don’t Lie

01:05 PM - 01:45 PM Max Rayne Auditorium

Dawn Waldron has spent thirty 'reclaimed' years transforming breast cancer outcomes following her own 1997 diagnosis. After two decades of intensive clinical practice working one-to-one with cancer patients, she now educates specialist practitioners and 'expert patients' through her groundbreaking FLUXABLE framework—a metabolic-epigenetic approach that bridges conventional medicine and integrative healing. Recently presented with the Yes to Life Holistic Cancer Care Innovator Award (2025), Dawn's message is clear: "Don't let the complexity of cancer blind you to the simplicity of healing."

Dawn's work focuses on the critical intersection between mitochondrial metabolism and epigenetic regulation—the missing link in current metabolic cancer therapies. An early adopter of nutrigenomics in clinical practice, she pioneered practical applications in a clinical setting using diet and lifestyle interventions to identify risk factors and support vulnerabilities.

Her academic background includes training with the Institute for Optimum Nutrition, where she later joined the faculty and created the first Cancer Workshop in 2005, together with postgraduate studies in personalised nutrition. In 2023, Dawn stepped back from clinical practice to research and write full-time, focusing on making complex biochemistry accessible to practitioners. She is currently developing an accredited BANT course for practitioners specialising in integrative oncology, translating three decades of clinical experience into evidence-based educational frameworks that empower both patients and practitioners with actionable strategies for prevention and recovery.
