We encourage all Year 10 parents and students to attend this event as it will explain the  NCEA qualification that will affect them next year. The evening will include 3 sessions:

NCEA CHANGES - THE BIG PICTURE

Recent changes (2024) to the NCEA qualification system need to be understood by parents and students. This session will explain the fundamental changes in how the qualification will work, covering off credits, standards, numeracy and literacy.

LITERACY

Being functionally literate is being able to make sense of written texts, read with critical awareness, and read for different purposes. Being able to write texts for different purposes and audiences and use language conventions appropriately to support communication. We will discuss how your son will be assessed on this, and how you can support him in his learning.

NUMERACY

Being Functionally Numerate is being able to perform a range of mathematical skills, and relate them to everyday life in a meaningful way, to manage the numeracy demands of society. We will discuss how your son will be assessed on this, and how you can support him in his learning.
