The National Engineers Day (NED) is an annual event organised by The Institution of Engineers, Singapore (IES) to celebrate the achievements of engineers, inspire young engineers and intrigue the young generation in engineering
As the national institution for engineers, IES is charged with the mission to advance and promote the science, art and profession of engineering. One of our key goals is to nurture future engineering thought leaders, innovators and entrepreneurs, to sustain the economic growth of Singapore and our quality of life.
Since initiating NED in 2010, IES has partnered with tertiary institutions, government agencies, engineering organisations and industry experts, to grow it into one of the biggest engineering events in Singapore.
NED comprises a series of fun and enriching activities demonstrating the ingenuity of engineers and the myriad of possibilities of an engineering career. An exciting line-up of activities ranging from innovative design to future of smart mobility, and “magic tricks” inspired from engineering concepts.
In the NED Expo that feature engineering solutions and projects from various government agencies and the private sector. In addition to Industrial talks and workshops, there will also be interesting hands-on activities and sharing on the career prospects in the field of engineering.
Last year, a total of 83 teams from various institutions participated in the 2nd Energy Innovation Challenge Competition to showcase their solution which demonstrates the use of alternative energy with focus on climate change and environmental sustainability. This event is jointly organised by the Science Centre Singapore and The Institution of Engineers, Singapore and is supported by Ministry of Education and National Research Foundation.
