WHAT: Museum of Graffiti Presents an Art Talk & Signing with Stash 2

WHO: Born Josh Franklin, Stash 2 is considered a legendary graffiti artist who was a pivotal player in the East Village scene of the early 1980’s. He exhibited his first canvases alongside pop-art pioneers Keith Haring and Jean-Michel Basquiat when he was only 17.  By the late 1990’s, Stash had pioneered the use of graffiti on streetwear through high-profile collaborations with companies such as Nike, Burton, Medicom and A Bathing Ape.  This move into the mainstream marketplace played a key role in the widespread understanding of and eventual public acceptance of graffiti.  Stash is now widely regarded as an innovator in the world of urban design.

WHEN:
4:30PM: Co-founder Alan Ket sits down with Stash 2 to discuss Stash's critical role in making graffiti art go viral via his partnerships with some of America's biggest brands.

The Museum seeks to honor and preserve the unique art form and to exhibit important works for permanent viewing. Through changing exhibitions and programs, the Museum aims to introduce visitors to the artists, paintings, photos, sculptures, works on paper, and designs that have captivated youth and adults for over fifty years, as well as the environment in which the global art movement was formed.
