Montrose Regional Health will be hosting its first Montrose Spring Opioid Clinics on Friday, March 14, 2025. The event will be held in the Hospital Conference Room at 800 S. 3rd St., Montrose CO. Catered lunch is included in the cost of registration. 

The Spring Opioid Clinics is a half day of medical education (CME) sponsored by the Montrose Regional Health Medical Staff and organized by the hospital's Fall Clinics Committee. It is open to physicians, medical students, nurses, nursing students and ancillary healthcare providers.

The Montrose Spring Opioid Clinics is designed to fulfill federal and state requirements for opioid-related continuing education. The event will address medical developments, technologies, procedures, and medical practice standards relating to opioids and substance abuse disorders as well as alternative treatment options.

Registration opens at 12 pm. Lunch will also be provided at that time.

Speakers

Dr. Jackman is a graduate of the Medical College of Wisconsin. He completed his family medicine residency at St. Mary's Medical Center in Grand Junction and his addiction medicine fellowship at the University of Colorado in Denver. He is board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine and the American Board of Preventative Medicine in Addiction Medicine. His clinical interests include integrating behavioral health into clinical medicine, improving access to addiction care for adolescents, pregnant and mothering women, and rural populations.

Dr. Don Teater is a board certified family physician who has practiced medicine for over 30 years. For the past 20 years his work has focused on treating chronic pain and opioid use disorder. While working on the public health aspects of the opioid epidemic through public speaking and lobbying, he also works part-time as a pain and addiction specialist seeing Alaska Native patients with the Southeast Alaska Regional Health Consortium (SEARHC). Dr. Teater and his wife Martha work together with several native tribes to reduce their incidence of addiction and overdose deaths.

Dr. Sargent is board certified in Family Medicine and grew up in Durango, CO. Upon graduation from high school, she attended the University of Denver and medical school at the University of Colorado. She went on to complete a Family Medicine residency in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, with an additional fellowship in Behavioral Health. While there, she worked with multiple psychiatric providers and care teams to increase her expertise in mental health. Her interests in medicine include preventative care, mental health, and chronic disease management for people of all ages.

Lyndall Young is a nurse, instructor, and outreach coordinator for Western Colorado Area Health Center and the facilitator of the Mesa County Opioid Response Group. She has taught over 200 Narcan trainings across the Western Slope and is a distributor of Narcan and Kloxxado. She is a presenter for Rise Above Colorado and has taught "Not Prescribed" in middle and high schools across Colorado. She is the recipient of the Community Impact Council Inspire Impact Outstanding Staff member Award as well as the Voices of Awareness Fentanyl Awareness Education Award. She is a Western Slope native and loves spending time outside with her family.
