Mochi Magic Workshop with Kaori Becker

MAZU welcomes Kaori Becker, author of Mochi Magic and Japanese culinary school Kaori's Kitchen based in Columbus, to lead a Mochi Magic workshop in Yellow Springs! Mochi — the traditional Japanese treat made of chewy rice dough — is a popular and versatile vehicle for all kinds of sweet and savory fillings, and easily molded into adorable shapes and characters that define Japan’s culture of both cuisine and cuteness. In this 90 minute class, Kaori and her mom and sister will lead you in pounding fresh mochi rice to make traditional ozoni (a new year's mochi soup), as well as preparing modern daifuku mochi filled with red bean and a variety of fruits. Enjoy learning about mochi and Japanese cuisine with Kaori and her family, and take some mochi home to share! Kaori will also have copies of Mochi Magic available for signing and taking home to keep the magic going.
