Important: Class is held Feburary 22 and 23 from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Attendance at both days is required. When you enroll you are enrolling in both days. Please make sure to add both sessions to your calendar.
Description: Just as CPR helps you assist an individual having a heart attack, Mental Health First Aid helps you assist someone experiencing a mental health or substance use-related crisis. In the Mental Health First Aid course, you learn risk factors and warning signs for mental health and addiction concerns, strategies for how to help someone in both crisis and non-crisis situations, and where to turn for help. Mental Health First Aid teaches about recovery and resiliency – the belief that individuals experiencing these challenges can and do get better and can use their strengths to stay well.
Note: Each attendee will receive a Mental Health First Aid Certification after this two day session. This is an 8-hour course delivered on 2 consecutive days. You must attend both sessions in their entirety and complete assigned pre-work in order to earn your certificate. Also note, this class is scheduled to go over the traditional lunch hour. Please arrange with your supervisor to flex your lunch period to accommodate the class.
