BANT events are focused on equipping Nutrition and Lifestyle Medicine practitioners with new science-based knowledge and insights on dedicated topics, together with the confidence to apply these within their clinical practice. All nutrition and lifestyle medicine practitioners are welcome.

Event Outline

This event will cover the latest diet, lifestyle and novel science-based insights and tools for practitioners to use to support Men's Health

The topics will include most or all of:

  • Andropause, Male Menopause, Man-o-pause . . . what is it? Is it real? Is it avoidable? What can be done to change the experience and outcomes?
  • Low testosterone, how common is it? How can it be assessed? What are the signs and symptoms?
  • Understanding key hormonal markers for males, Total Testosterone, Sex Hormone Binding Globulin, Follicle Stimulating Hormone, Leutenizing Hormone, Free Testosterone, and other markers with causal relationships
  • What diet, supplementation and lifestyle interventions are meaningful for impact on natural testosterone productio

Virtual Tickets: 2 days prior to the event

Kat Bright is a experienced Nutritional Therapist and Nutritionist with a focus on female hormone health and weight management.

She brings a compassionate, evidence-based approach to practice recognising that sustainable change happens when the advice is realistic, practical and personalised. She works with clients 1-1, with groups via an online weight loss program and with a private GP using GLP-1 medications. Her practical time-saving strategies and simple nourishing recipes make healthy eating achievable and enjoyable.

Visionary and values-driven, Dr Natascha Van Zyl brings over 28 years of expertise across academia, healthcare, medicine, and consultancy. A Chartered Health Psychologist and Lifestyle Medicine Practitioner, she is recognised for pioneering integrative, trauma-informed care pathways and driving curriculum innovation in health education.

Currently a Senior Teaching Fellow in Health Psychology at the University of Portsmouth, Natascha lectures and supervises research across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, shaping future practitioners through evidence-based behavioural science.

Dr David Unwin is an award-winning GP known for pioneering the low-carb approach in the UK.

He is the Royal College of General Practitioners (RCGP) national champion for collaborative care and support planning in obesity and diabetes. 

A GP in Southport near Liverpool, he has helped care for a practice of nearly 10,000 people since 1986. To date over 100 of his patients with Type 2 diabetes have achieved drug-free remission. This gives a remission rate of 50% at 30 months duration of those choosing a lower carb diet. One of the best results for any clinic in the world.

He has 30 published papers and has been featured on TV, radio, The Times, The Observer and the New Scientist Magazine.

Dr Shamila Wanninayake, is an Oxfordshire GP.

Together with 20 years of clinical experience, she has a long held interest in obesity & weight management developed through her first degree in Psychology where she was involved in Obesity research at Leeds University.

She holds a Diploma in Obesity and Weight management and represents Primary Care on the Council’s Oxfordshire Multidisciplinary Working group for Healthy Weights in childhood.  She also sits on the National Child Measurement Programme Board (NCMP). 

She supports a whole systems approach to achieving healthy weights and lifestyle and strives to inspire all patients to make some changes that can have a wider impact on their wellbeing in an evidence-based way. 

She is also involved in National Health Policy & Governance as Council Member for the Royal College of General Practitioners and believes that the biggest difference needs to come from Policy change that truly enables people to make healthier choices and that this must embrace the wider impact of environmental and planetary health. 

She is also an RCGP Clinical Advisor and Representative and teaches on the undergraduate Oxford University Medicine Course.
