Witness Cross-Examination Program 

The United States District Court for the District of Rhode Island, in partnership with the Roger Williams University School of Law and the Rhode Island Chapter of the Federal Bar Association, is proud to announce its comprehensive hands-on witness cross-examination training program.

This program will provide hands-on training in witness cross-examination and will take place on February 23rd and 24th, 2026. The course will be an intensive two-day program to be held at the Federal Courthouse in Providence, Rhode Island. The faculty teaching the program will include federal and state judges, Roger Williams Law School faculty, and experienced Rhode Island trial lawyers. This program offers 10 CLE credits, and 1 ethics credit. Registration will close when the program is full, so interested attorneys should apply as soon as possible.

The schedule for the program is as follows:

Monday, February 23: 9:00 a.m to 4:30 p.m. Lectures and Workshops. Lunch will be provided.

Tuesday, February 24: 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Lectures and Workshops - Lunch will be provided.   5:00 p.m. Reception in the Main Lobby. 

 

The cost of the program is $500.00 (including course materials).                                                                                              

Partial scholarships are available to lawyers of all backgrounds who require financial assistance.

If you would like to apply for scholarship funding, please first contact the FBA at  rbriggs@hinckleyallen.com with a brief description of the nature of your law practice and a request to be considered for a scholarship. If you are awarded a scholarship, you will be provided with a special code which should be used when you register for the program.

Refund Policy:   Please contact Rana Smith at 401.752.7210 or Rana_Smith@rid.uscourts.gov no later than Monday, February 16, 2026 to receive a full refund.  You will be required to return all course materials to receive your refund.
