This four-week, self-paced online Twitter course will help you come up to speed on using Twitter effectively as part of your personal learning network, for school library advocacy, and for promotion. It is designed to help attendees become active tweeters during AASL and ALA events - and beyond! The course is open to AASL members who have never used Twitter or who feel like a novice taking advantage of it for learning, networking, and advocacy. More Information  

How the course works:

- Material for the upcoming week is posted each Monday.
- Registrants have until the following Monday to work through the material and complete assigned activities.
- One optional live Twitter chat is scheduled for Thursday, May 25, 7:00 p.m. Central.
- Registrants successfully completing the course may request a Certificate of Completion.

Presenter 

Jane Lofton is the teacher librarian at Mira Costa High School in Manhattan Beach. She is a Past President of California School Library Association (CSLA), as well as having served in a number of other volunteer positions for CSLA. Currently, she is the social media/website chair for the CSLA 2016 conference. She is a member of the AASL Best Websites for Teaching & Learning Committee, a Google Certified Innovator and Trainer, and a frequent presenter at library and tech conferences. She is passionate about working with students and empowering them to be critical thinkers, enthusiastic readers, skillful researchers, and ethical users and creators of information. Jane is also an enthusiastic blogger (Jane Lofton’s Adventures in School Libraryland, Mira Costa High School Library Blog) and tweeter (@jane_librarian) and has taught four previous online classes on using Twitter.

Cancellation policy

Space in AASL eAcademy courses is limited to 30 students. Registration cancellations can be made by email, in writing and postmarked or faxed seven days prior to the course. Cancellations will result in a full refund, less a $5 processing fee. No phone cancellations will be accepted.
