We’re really happy to announce that after a two season gap due to COVID and BREXIT issues, we’re able to offer a venue that’s accessible from Chamonix again. We’re back in a great venue at Le Châtelard right on the Swiss border. We’re able to offer accommodation at a great price in dorm’ style as well.

 A First Aid course delivered in the alps regulated by the UK Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation (Ofqual) and the Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework (SCQF). This Level 3 qualification is suitable for people working in the outdoors and meets the criteria for NGB awards such as the Mountain Leader, International Mountain Leader and more.


This comprehensive two-day course covers a wide range of First Aid emergencies, enabling all participants to deal with emergency situations with confidence in a prompt, safe and effective way, particularly where professional medical help is not immediately available. 

AGE RESTRICTIONS & COURSE NUMBERS

A maximum of 12 students are allowed and must be a minimum of 16 years of age and a certificate can be offered to all, subject to assessment. A learner cannot assume a responsibility in the workplace until they reach the age of 16, and then it is the employer’s responsibility to ensure that the student is suitable for that role.

CERTIFICATION

Summative practical assessment is ongoing by the instructor each day, along with a written assessment on each day. A three-year Level 3 Award in Outdoor First Aid will be issued to the learner, subject to successful assessment. No external assessors are required. All certificates are delivered electronically.

We can offer renewal of an existing “First Aid at Work” and “Emergency First Aid at Work” alongside the Outdoor First Aid course.

International Mountain Leader & First Aid Trainer I’m an International Mountain Leader and First aid Trainer. I left the UK in 1999 to live and work in Europe. Since 2003 we’ve lived in Switzerland. We are based in Leysin in the Swiss Alps where we also run the Epicea B&B providing accommodation for our clients. I’m a director of the British Association of International Mountain Leaders (BAIML) and the president of the international body the Union of International Mountain Leader Associations (UIMLA). I represent UIMLA and International Mountain Leaders to MountainSafety.Info, a collaboration between Manuel Genswein, IFMGA, the UIAA to promote best practice in areas such as avalanche rescue, The International Climbing and Mountaineering Federation (UIAA), The International Commission for Alpine Rescue (ICAR). For BAIML I am engaged in lobbying work on recognition and working rights post BREXIT. We’re based in Leysin in the Swiss where we have our own Bed & Breakfast with comfortable rooms. When we’re not using that as a base, we’re in the Italian Dolomites, the French Island of Corsica or anywhere!
