Journey to Joy — A weekend of nourishment for the soul
Join your hosts Danielle Pope and Mitra Agni Atma for a retreat designed to give your soul the space it needs for healing. Whether you are dealing with grief, loss, burnout or just need to take a breath for you, this empowering retreat will help you move into your light.
Prepare for a weekend of mindful practices in writing, meditation, yoga and supportive nourishment to create your new story of joy. While there are parts of the journey we must travel alone, we can come together in community to heal.
THE MISSION:
We have all experienced the formidable pain of loss — whether a loved one, a relationship, a job, a home, an illness, or a significant life change. Grief is a natural part of the human experience, but one we often try to push past in an effort to move forward. Yet, unprocessed grief can lead to great suffering, through detachment, anger, anxiety, even sickness.
Now, as we move into the autumnal season, it's time to compassionately step into our courage and acknowledge our grief. Here, we have the opportunity to see the path before us and prepare to rewrite our story of joy and inner peace — whether coming through personal grief, grief from the suffering of our planet, or the reconciliation of our ancestors. With a combination of yogic wisdom, creativity and healing food, we can make space to change the narrative and heal the soul.
THE PRACTICE:
Mitra and Danielle will guide you through a weekend filled with a balance of awakening activities and restful reflection time.
Programming includes guided writing exercises, meditation, yoga (gentle Hatha and Kundalini), time with nature, creative nourishment and reflection.
You’ll have space to spend the time you need walking the beautiful trails of the Swanwick ocean line, enjoying the beachfront, journaling, resting, eating and nourishing the parts of yourself that so often get overlooked.
By the end of the weekend you’ll have practices to add to your toolbox to ensure your journey to joy continues long after the retreat concludes.
THE LOCATION:
We’ll spend the weekend at the beautiful Swanwick Centre in Metchosin, B.C., an oasis known for inspiring healing and awakening with its spectacular 32-acre, ocean-front setting.
The property is lined with Garry oaks, coniferous trees and magnificent views over the Strait of Juan de Fuca and the Olympic Mountains. The facility includes a main house and three smaller buildings, with a large gathering room where we will meet to practice, as well as two libraries, a swimming pool, a tennis court and acres of ocean-front property with walking trails and a beach.
Accommodations are available as single or shared rooms, some with private ensuites. The rooms are simple and homey, inviting you to nestle into your space and practice with a comfortable blend of community and quiet time. A communal kitchen is available in the main house, allowing guests to access coffee and tea, and storage for snacks or additional nourishment as needed.

The menu will be gluten free and vegan to accommodate most preferences, with lunch and dinner crafted by Food For Thought catering. With an Ayurvedic awareness, a special Kitchari meal will be prepared for Friday night.
