A 90 minute Introduction to SUP Yoga
Laybourne Lakes Watersports Centre, Laybourne Lakes Watersports Centre, Leybourne, Kent, ME20 6JA, United Kingdom.
Join Helen for an Introduction to SUP Yoga on Saturday 15th July, 12:00 - 13:30, at Leybourne Lake Watersports Centre.
Open to complete beginners to paddleboarding, yoga, or both, Helen will teach you all you need to know to safely and confidently get out on the water and experience the joys of SUP Yoga.
In SUP Yoga you learn to move with the board and the water beneath you. Once we have paddled out and tethered our boards, we always start with simple seated postures (where your centre of gravity is low and balance is easy) and build up to more challenging postures in the middle of the class, then finish with a blissful relaxation, surrounded by nature and (hopefully) the feeling of sunshine on your skin!
You will not need a wetsuit. Please wear usual fitness clothing (perhaps shorts and a tshirt for men, and leggings and a top for women). You can choose to wear water shoes if it is chilly, but most people have bare feet. You may like to bring a light weight waterproof top if it is cool on the day.
Please ask Helen if you have any questions at all.

My first experience of SUP Yoga was in 2013, and I have never looked back! I practiced regularly in a pool and then on local rivers and lakes, encouraging my friends to join in too. Then in August 2014 I completed a SUP Yoga teacher training course with Gerry Broom at SUPfit in Hove. Since then, I’ve been teaching SUP Yoga and basic paddle technique classes, and also paddle regularly with my husband, Nick, and our friends. So far in 2017 I have trained as a BSUPA Level 1 Instructor and SUP Fitness Instructor. Nick and I have some more training on the horizon and have some really exciting events coming up in 2017! My aim is to make yoga in all its forms, and of course paddleboarding, an enjoyable, accessible and healthy experience for all, and to show my enthusiasm for and dedication to yoga, fitness, health, happiness and nature with every moment I teach.
