Course Description: This one day course is designed to teach you the student the basics of defensive pistol. The goal of Strategic Self Reliance and Defense is to help you build your tool box and give you a stable shooting platform that you can add on to, making you safer, faster and a more accurate shooter. Safety and accuracy being most important.

During this course we will be using both dry fire and live-fire exercises that will focus on defensive pistol-handling skills to help prepare for you for home personal defense situations. We will start by going over pistol presentation (drawing your weapon) We will also be covering malfunctions and reloads. We will look over your kit and make sure it will work and see if you should make any changes to it. This class will be full of good info.

First and foremost we will cover safety and Lt. Col. Jeff Cooper's Four Rules of Gun Safety. We will also touch on situational awareness and the principals of personal defense.

We will start at 9am and end at 5pm, give or take 30 minutes. The end time will depend on class size and how fast or slow the students grasp the material. We will take a hour lunch around 11 or 12. Time will depend on where we are in the class. Its up to you what you do for lunch. I always recommend going to Hazel as a class. This is a good time to talk about what he have covered in class.

We will cover the following:

  1. The 4 rules to live by
  2. Stance
  3. Grip
  4. Presentation from the holster
  5. Threat assessment and area scanning
  6. Reloads and ammo management
  7. Clearing malfunctions, Tap Rack Bang
  8. Operations check
  9. Dry fire and live fire drills

For the class you will need a defensive pistol, 250 rounds, a minimum of three mags and a double mag pouch or two single mag pouches. You will also need eye and ear protection. A lawn chair and knee pads are recommended. Also, please bring any snacks or drinks you may want for the day. You will get an email with all this info after you sign up.

If you have any questions, please feel free to call.
